Dear Ones in Christ Jesus,
I am sorry that it has been
so long since my last letter, which was written soon after I returned from
Kenya. So many things have gone on that it is difficult to know what to write.
I am so thankful that Ruth and Dr. Malburg opened their home to me. They
supplied my every need and took me for many trips to Doctors, Dentist and
therapists. I was there until the 6th of March, but did spend time
with Philip and Judy with their David and Heidi. I did enjoy visiting the
Meeker Grace Church. Later, I visited there again for a few days, and was able
to go to Craig to be with Earl and Beulah. It was a blessing to visit my home
church and dear saints there who had so faithfully supported me through my time
in Kenya.
By the middle of February,
I felt it was time to be on my own, and give Ruth a break. We did some
inquiring in Craig and Meeker and Delta. We chose Delta, and on March 6 Ruth,
David and Jon helped me move here. After coming from Kenya with only my
clothes, it was hard to believe all the things one needs to do their own
cooking and housework. Ruth went with me the first day, and I bought many
foods, and found every-day things that I should have for a good diet., and
other household needs. I am thankful the Lord has supplied all I need and more
than I really need!
It is a blessing to have my
oldest sister, Mary, in the nearby town of Cedaredge. She will take me to Grand
Junction next week for more X-rays. Shirley, a dear friend I have known for
years, and a special friend of Mary’s lives in this same home also. She has
been a great blessing to me for shopping, and taking me to visit several
churches here. I now go mostly to a Bible-believing Grace Bible Church. The
Lord has raised up friends who will pick me up for the services there.
I had hoped to get into
some kind of prison ministry, but so far have had no encouragement. One couple
I met who go there are with Gideons, but are not willing for me to join them.
There is a couple in the church I now attend who go every week to some rest
homes here and in Montrose. They have agreed to take me along. Shirley and I
had gone to one last week, but it was a poor time, with most folks resting. I
am hoping for some open doors in these places.
I do want to reach some of
the older residents here with the news of our Redeemer, the Lord Jesus. It
seems so few know Him, and have no desire to know Him. I have passed out a few
evangelistic tracts here. I need to get better acquainted to accomplish much.
Please pray that I will have boldness to witness to others of the wonderful
salvation we have in Christ Jesus. I have met one dear lady who really loves
the Lord. She is willing for us to pray together about our witness. This is a
great encouragement.
I praise the Lord so much
for all you dear faithful partners in the Gospel, who prayed for me and
supported my ministry in Kenya. Thank you also for those who are continuing to
help support the national workers. May God bless you all abundantly!
In Christ’s love,
Jessie
