Nathan & Jessica Killion

Thailand

Starting the Journey

Envision a land where millions of people bow down before statues of Buddha, monks walk the streets barefoot each morning to beg for alms, and less than 1% of the population know Jesus Christ as their Savior. This is a glimpse of the kingdom of Thailand, where the Lord has called Nathan and Jessica Killion to go as missionaries.

The Killions’ first exposure to the mission field actually came several years ago. After graduating from high school, Nathan went on a two-week mission to Romania. Growing up as the daughter of Pastor Tim and Judy Heath, Jessica took part in two short-term trips to Brazil and Curacao. These trips impacted Nathan and Jessica in memorable ways by opening up their hearts to mission work and giving them a small taste of life in another country.

Nathan and Jessica attended Grace Bible College where they met and married. Two years later their son, Matthias, was born. The Lord led them to accept a pastorate at Faith Bible Church in Olney, Illinois, where they ministered for the past 5 ½ years. It was there that their daughters Abigail and Chloe were born. This was a meaningful time of growth for the Killions as they learned much about life and ministry and built lasting friendships.

Since college the Killions have been directly involved in mission outreach. Nathan visited the Philippines twice, and both Nathan and Jessica participated in TCM’s Africa Safari 2007 to Kenya. During that trip the Lord confirmed His desire for them to become full time missionaries.

Shortly before the Africa trip the Killions met TCM missionaries Genesis and Verna Maraat who shared their vision for ministry in Thailand. They challenged the Killions to join them. After praying about the opportunity for several weeks the Killions were ready to commit themselves to serve as missionaries to the people of Thailand.

The Lord reaffirmed this calling through Nathan’s survey trip to Thailand in November. Walking among the innumerable Buddhist temples; watching worshipers bow before idols; talking with individuals who have no concept of Jesus Christ or the Bible—these experiences vividly demonstrated the need to share “the living and true God” with the Thai people.

Beginning in January 2008 the Killions will be visiting churches and conferences to share about their ministry and raise the necessary support. They plan to leave for Thailand by January 2009.
